With over 37 years of experience as an architect and planner, Dean has a clear picture of Durango's future -- one that includes a vision of creative and beneficial growth in the upcoming decade. Dean understands what kind of development enhances our quality of life, while preserving the things we love.

Experience

During Dean's first term on City Council, he and fellow councilors solved the challenges presented by the wastewater treatment plant, accessory dwellings, and vacation rentals. Dean is the current president of the Colorado Association of Ski Towns and continues to raise Durango's profile throughout the U.S.

Leadership

Dean was Mayor of Durango in 2015 when the Gold King Mine spill occurred. He immediately went into action with all levels of government representatives to address the incident. He was instrumental in securing EPA Superfund status to clean up the Animas River in collaboration with state and national elected officials.
